KNIGHTSWOOD MODEL BOAT CLUB

ABOUT OUR CLUB
W e are small in members but big in heart, we sail at Knightswood Park, Archerhill road,
GLASGOW. on a Sunday afternoons from 1-00 pm to 5-00pm  during our sailing
Period which is usually March to October.
We have a club room in the parks building that serves the bowling greens but it is
some distance from the pond, so we have a caravan as a mobile club room when we are
sailing . This gives us a place for teas etc (most important) as well  as somewhere out of
the wind and rain. It also holds a lot of our gear (tables chairs boundary screen etc.)
During the winter we meet in the club room for a natter and tea as well as working on club
boats  at the present this is our big 86”  Talisman paddle steamer (see our build on this
Boat)  which will actually see the water early this year in all its glory .
Our members have all types of boats, kit, semi scratch, scratch built, RTR,sailing ,
steam puffers, lifeboats, naval, coasters, tugs, paddlers, side and stern wheelers,
cabin cruisers.  We have some small club boats for children to use  on  gala days when
we section off a part of the pond for them.
Our members range from very young to retired but all are active sailors who have boats
that  range from large 60’’  to small  8’’  and all sizes between .
We welcome any visitors to come and sail with us, and have a tea, as well as the usual chat about our hobby, just bring a boat or just yourself , there is plenty of parking on the roadside. You will find us a very friendly lot of  boaters. You do not have to be a model boater, just come and find out more of this hobby, be warned it can become contagious,
but you will enjoy yourself . Just ask for  Donald, John, Jack, Stephen, Bill, James, Alan
In fact anyone we all will answer your queries.  We look forward to meeting you
